Thus, extra stiff shafts will give you the most power in your shot—if you swing the club properly. It is very difficult to execute a perfect golf swing with a stiff shaft. 

This is why use of these shafts is only recommended for professional golfers. But in the end, these are only guidelines. Just because you are a senior, it doesn’t necessarily follow that you have to use golf clubs equipped with senior shafts. And the same goes for women. Typically, the more flex a shaft has the smoother your shot will be. 

So if you are someone who goes for accuracy and finesse more than power than flexible shafts will probably work better for you. That’s why some guys even choose to have their clubs equipped with ladies shafts. In the case of my friend, he likes execute very powerful golf swings. Thus, a stiffer shaft was more suited towards his playing style.  

The best thing to do when looking for the right shaft is to go to a pro shop. There, you should try swinging golf clubs equipped with varying shafts to see which one works best for you. Likewise, you should make sure that you your club shafts are of the right length. That’s why it is always better to have your clubs custom made for you.
